Yellowhead Institute Red Papers aim to follow a tradition of agenda-making reports by Indigenous people – like the 1970 original – that contributes to important conversations within and outside our communities.
Land Back (2019)
The project of land back is about reclaiming Indigenous jurisdiction: breathing life into rights and responsibilities. This Red Paper is about how Canada dispossesses Indigenous peoples from the land, and in turn, what communities are doing to get it back.
Cash Back (2021)
Cash Back is about the value of Indigenous lands. Picking up from Land Back, the first Red Paper by Yellowhead about the project of land reclamation, this report looks at how the dispossession of Indigenous lands created a dependency on the state due to the loss of economic livelihood. Cash Back is about restitution from the perspective of stolen wealth.
