Aluki Kotierk
Aluki Kotierk is originally from Igloolik, Nunavut, and currently resides in Iqaluit with her family since 2004. She is the current President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI), a political body responsible for ensuring the full and fair implementation of the Nunavut Agreement.
Aluki is driven by her passion to empower and improve Inuit lives. After earning her bachelor and master’s degrees in Native and Canadian Studies at Trent University, Aluki went on to work in various Inuit organization, including Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada, Inuit Tapirisat of Canada (now Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami), and Nunavut Sivuniksavut. After returning home to Nunavut, Aluki held senior management and deputy minister roles within the Government of Nunavut, Office of the Languages Commissioner and NTI. In her current role as NTI President, Aluki is keen in how Inuit Language and Culture can be better incorporated into the way in which programs and services are designed and delivered in Nunavut.
