JoLee Sasakamoose
Dr. JoLee Sasakamoose is a CIHR Research Chair in Applied Public Health specializing in Indigenous Wellness and Health Equity at the University of Regina. A member of M'Chigeeng First Nation and active citizen of Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, she serves as Professor of Educational Psychology and Counselling, bridging Indigenous knowledge with evidence-based practices. As founding Research Director of the Indigenous Wellness Research Corridor and Wellness Director of Natawihowikamik Healing Lodge and Wellness Clinic, Dr. Sasakamoose leads transformative community-driven initiatives. Her pioneering Indigenous Cultural Responsiveness Framework addresses health inequities while advancing self-determination in Indigenous health systems. Her research, supported by CIHR and Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, prioritizes data sovereignty through OCAP® principles, ensuring ethical data management aligned with Indigenous community values. Through her work at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine Regina Campus, she promotes decolonized healthcare training, reshaping systems to foster Indigenous wellness and health equity across Canada.
