In response to the Special Report, “Indigenous Food Sovereignty in Ontario: A Study of Exclusion at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs”, Kaitlin Rizarri addresses how OMAFRA restricts BIPOC farmers in cities from reclaiming their food systems.
Kaitlin Rizarri is Filipina from Cebu and mixed Mi’kmaw and settler from Ktaqmkuk, Elmastukwek (Bay of Islands). She grew up north of Tkaronto in Caledon and is now a community farmer with Tkaronto Plant Life. She is a PhD student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Her research work focuses on food sovereignty and BIPOC relationality.
