From the Yellowhead Institute Special Report, The Rematriation of Indigenous Place Names, this partial map highlights the work of communities to demonstrate how naming practices are an assertion of Indigenous legal authority – recognizing the historical agreements, re-establishing working relationships amongst Indigenous nations, and crafting a diplomatic language with with Canadian governments.
